Psy revealed the purpose of "HANGOVER", stating: "Not many people know this, but I started music with hip-hop. I haven't had a chance to dive deeper into the genre because people liked my dance music. Then I had a chance to run into Snoop Dogg - for rappers, Snoop Dogg is god. We talked about collaboration, and no matter what the result, it was an honor".
He added, "Although hip-hop wasn't as exciting as my original music, I wanted to leave the song as a record for myself and be a bit selfish. I'm very proud of the results".
On ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night, Psy revealed the behind cuts of 'Hangover' with Snoop Dogg.
Jimmy Kimmel asked Psy how they worked together, and Psy told him that he called Snoop Dogg and asked him to be featured. He said Snoop Dogg asked what the title of the song was, and he said 'Hangover,' and Snoop Dogg said yes right away.
Psy said, "We couldn't meet before the song was finished. Snoop Dogg was in LA and I was in Korea, so we worked on it together online."
He also said, "I wanted to apologize to Snoop Dogg. We filmed the MV for 18 hours." In response, Snoop Dogg shook his head and said, "This guy [Psy] doesn't take a break."
